Aired 3/10/09
Burke: Let's get ready to rummmBBBLLLLL!
Bunny: What's with the weird judge introduction thing? Everybody seems really really happy tonight; is Crest the new corporate sponsor? Kara is getting throttled by her big blue bow, and Paula was apparently plucking a chicken backstage right before the show.
With 13 finalists this year, two will have to be eliminated tomorrow. And it's Michael Jackson night. Nice diapey in that last shot, Mikey. Anyway, here we go.
RATING SYSTEM

Litterbox Level

Paws-itively Purr-fect
Lil Rounds

“The Way You Make Me Feel”
Bunny: She sounds great, but her garments are attacking her as well. She commands the stage and the message is clear: “I may be singing first tonight, but I won't let you forget me!” Loved that falsetto note. Randy calls her dude. Paula loves her outfit, Simon hates it and offers to straighten her out in regard to fashion. Yeah, that'll work.

Burke: Very nice opening performance by Lil. She picked a good song, and she did a good job. The bar has been set tonight.

Scott MacIntyre

“Keep the Faith”
Bunny: He's back in his comfort zone behind the piano. I don't even know that song. He gives a powerful performance and doesn't even sound that pitchy tonight. Paula points out that the songwriter is in the audience. Simon says they shouldn't try to be artistic on this show. What-what?

Burke: I think picking a lesser-known song was a good move. We have nothing to compare it to because obviously he's no Michael Jackson. I was impressed with his performance. I had my doubts going into MJ week, but if this keeps up, it's going to be a good show!

Danny Gokey

“P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)”
Bunny: I'm mighty tired of the specs of many colors, but that's a nitpick. It's not a very melodic song, and the audience did half the singing, but his voice is fine. He just seems a little manic up there. Paula thinks it's going out on a limb to predict he'll be in the finale—uh, duh, the producers have basically been telling us that from the beginning. At least he didn't sing “Kumbaya.”

Burke: I guess I'm not as impressed as all the judges. I think his dancing was crazy, and it seemed to me like he yelled the whole song. I'm not on the Danny Gokey Express yet...

Michael Sarver

“You Are Not Alone”
Bunny: I guess it's better than I expected, but I'm not blown away. Probably more because of the song than any failing on his part. The last note is impressive, though, and I don't think he's necessarily going home first like many predict.

Burke: He reminds me a little of a young Garth Brooks. The biggest question mark for this week in my mind has been answered. Michael Sarver came out and did a great job on that song. I was impressed with his stage presence and the big note at the end.

Jasmine Murray

“I'll Be There”
Bunny: That's a darling dress and what a sweet family she has. And my big question has been answered: Who will sing “I'll Be There”? She sounds pretty good. It's not the most exciting performance of the night, but I think she did herself proud.

Burke: Jaz goes old-school MJ and does a good job. She came off a bit stiff to me; she always sort of gives me the pageant queen impression, not pop star.

Kris Allen

“Remember the Time”
Bunny: He has kind of a Michael Johns vibe, but a little less captivating. He is dressed kind of Arkansasian (?) for Michael Jackson night. I think he needed a well-known song to really make a big impression. This is the first act tonight that fulfills the sort of low expectations I had, which is strange considering it's his second MJ song of the season.

Burke: It was just average for me. Didn't like his clothing choice—looked more like country night. The guitar seemed out of place. My least favorite so far.

Allison Iraheta

“Give In To Me”
Bunny: I don't know most of these songs! Of course, I was never really a huge King of Pop fan. At the risk of sounding like Randy Jackson, it's hard to believe she's only 16. I would have liked a little more of a balance between softer control and all-out wailing, but she is clearly going to make her mark.

Burke: That was an MJ song? Sounded more like Heart. Very intense performance. I'm not sure how she'll do on a Barry Manilow-type night.

Anoop Desai

“Beat It”
Bunny: This song doesn't really suit him. I don't think there's any way he's going home tomorrow night, but this performance wouldn't have cut the mustard in the earlier rounds. But I don't like when Ryan asks Simon auxiliary questions, giving him the opportunity to make the contestant feel even worse than they already do.

Burke: That song didn't showcase his abilities; he's better than that. I don't think he'll be going home yet, though.

Jorge Nunez

“Never Can Say Goodbye”
Bunny: You know, the only thing I don't like about him are those Grim Reaper Sickle of Death eyebrows. He's so likable. No, the song wasn't great. But it wasn't “Bad.”

Burke: He's gotta get rid of the cheese factor. When he sings he reminds me of the Joker. I keep picturing Jack Nicholson. The performance? It was just ... there.

Megan Joy Corkrey

“Rockin' Robin”
Bunny: The tattooed Disney princess. She can't quite keep from doing the shimmy of Joy, but her dancing has improved a little. It's kind of a weird performance, but not in a bad way. I do like her, even if it makes me unpopular.

Burke: Perfect song choice for her corny dancing style. Not much of a performance, not a good song choice. She said she didn't have much stage time, and it showed.

Adam Lambert

“Black or White”
Bunny: I'm trying to enjoy him, I really am. Trying so, so hard. According to Paula, it will be a Gobert finale in May (Dandam, Lamkey, take your pick). What on earth is everyone hearing that I'm not? Or not hearing that I am?

Burke: Dude sings like a lady. Performance was too theatrical for me. He belongs on a stage, but not this one. Not my cup of tea at all.

Matthew Giraud

“Human Nature”
Bunny: The dueling piano player has his instrument back. He does a fairly good job, but he always sounds a little out of breath to me which hampers my enjoyment of his singing.

Burke: Seemed karaoke to me. Too much time spent in the upper register.

Alexis Grace

“Dirty Diana”
Bunny: I don't like the song, but she does a bang-up job. Not one I would sing in front of an innocent toddler, but that's just me.

Burke: Spastic movements, out of breath lyrics. A blond Betty Boop on crack.

PREDICTIONS
Bunny: First off, Bunny's Bomb is Anoop Desai, hate to say it. As for those who will bid us adieu tomorrow night, I think it will be Megan Corkrey and Jasmine Murray.
Burke: The show really tapered off after the midway point. Burke's Turkey is Adam Lambert. I couldn't even watch him. The two who will get the boot will be Jorge Nunez and Jasmine Murray.
Prognosticats: The hairball-inducing act tonight was by Kris Allen. But Alexis Grace and Danny Gokey will get voted off.
Bunny: Another prediction from the catnappers revealing that they really weren't paying attention. Oh, well, more points for us! Tomorrow should be interesting with this new twist they speak of.

Maybe you folks need a box of Q-Tips for your ears: ADAM LAMBERT gave an incredible performance of “Black Or White”.
My wife and I both agreed that its one of the finest performances on 8 seasons of AI: even Simon & Paula agreed about that!
Adam is now the singer that will likely be in the Final Four (along with Danny, Matt, & Allison)
Alexis was horrible last night…..she had the “Pimp Spot” and she screwed the pooch.
Megan Joy was clearly the WORST…….she picked a horrible song and that “Caw Caw” at the end? It was a direct plea to Vote For The Worst to gain much needed votes!
We could give the Q-Tips a try, but I don’t think they’d help. Just because you can scream like Steven Tyler doesn’t make you a good singer. I CAN appreciate his command of the stage, his confidence, and his showmanship. Just don’t like his voice. As Simon would say, “Sorreh!”
