Bunny: I always think it's kind of funny how the contestants have to stand like soldiers, eyes straight ahead, as Ryan walks among them and introduces the show. I think I would have a hard time not laughing.
The theme is any song that is a popular download on iTunes. They don't say exactly what qualifies as popular, although since the Idols visit Ryan in the studio where AT40 is broadcast, I'm thinking it's top 40 hits. Evidently, because of the possible wide variety of songs tonight, there is no specific mentor.

Anoop Desai

“Caught Up” by Usher
Bunny: At first I thought it was results night and the group number was beginning, but no, it's just Anoop's dancers/backup singers. Hmm. I'm not sure about this performance. I'm not familiar with the song and don't think I want to become so after that. He looks spiffier tonight, but I think this is more “Beat It” and less “Always on My Mind.” Ooh, did you see the alarming stare of death that Anoop gave Simon during his critique? I don't like his attitude lately. He seems sorta haughty.

Burke: Not the best opening number for me. I didn't like the song or the Bollywood suit. He reminds me of Scott; he sings different songs but they always sound the same.

Bunny: Okay, they say Megan is attempting Bob Marley after the break. This oughta be, well, interesting. Didn't work so hot for Jason Castro last year.
Burke: If she pulls this off, I'll eat my pen.
Megan Joy

“Turn Your Lights Down Low" by Bob Marley and Lauryn Hill
Bunny: Actually, I think this is her best so far. I'm not saying it's good, but at least it suits her better than her previous song choices. Paula strongly implies that she should be sitting so that we don't have to watch her dance. Honestly, in spite of the obvious problems with the performance, I don't think she's going home quite yet.

Burke: What's up with her voice? It's like she's possessed or has multiple personalities, each taking their turn singing badly. She definitely will be in the bottom 3 with that performance. I will not be dining on Bic bouillabaisse anytime soon.

Danny Gokey

“What Hurts the Most” by Rascal Flatts
Bunny: Interesting choice. For him, too, I think this is his best. I'm not boarding the D-train, but it's a heartfelt performance and done well. He is much more palatable to me tonight than before.

Burke: Let's see: a song I don't like by a band I don't like sung by a contestant I don't like—but surprise—I liked it! I felt the emotion.

Allison Iraheta

“Don't Speak” by No Doubt
Bunny: She has the guitar but only plays it for the first 20% of the song. However, she is terrific. I think the first half is better than the second half, but maybe it's just because it was nice to hear her tone it down a bit. And I agree with the judges, the clothing is atrocious.

Burke: I didn't like the Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm hairdo or the fact that she strummed her guitar, like, 3 times. Can she actually play? I'm not so sure. The song was just okay for me. I don't think I've heard LALALA sung quite that intensely before. Ever.

Scott MacIntyre

“Just the Way You Are” by Billy Joel
Bunny: Look, he even has Billy Joel's 1970s hair! I like him with just the piano, and think the song is a good choice. I do feel he is nearing the end of his run, but he may squeak by again this week, especially if someone else falters.

Burke: Different week, same song. I think I'll say that every week until he goes home. He should be in a hotel or on a cruise ship where they expect that kind of music. A pop star, he is not.

Matt Giraud

“You Found Me” by the Fray
Bunny: He's getting in touch with the fans by playing a keyboard in the middle of the audience. He always seems a little nervous to me, and it affects his voice. It's never a good sign when they choose a song based on what they like, although it would be contradictory to show what kind of recording artist they'd be by choosing songs they didn't like. Overall, it isn't horrible, but I'm certainly not going to wear out my fingers dialing his number.

Burke: Rough opening, then it got better, then rough closing. I didn't like it.

Lil Rounds

“I Surrender” by Celine Dion
Bunny: I hope she lets this song live at least a short life before she thrashes it. She looks great. The song's not too bad ... and then her Von Smith tendencies come out again and beat the living daylights out of it. I would be far more impressed with a little restraint. I will say that the sight of Lil's little girl hugging Randy was one of the cutest Idol moments ever. We all expected fisticuffs.

Burke: The diva reappears. She has more power than the other 8 combined, but she should have picked a better song.

Adam Lambert

“Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry
Bunny: Oh, boy, I'm going to hate this. Yes, it's official. I hate it. Even last year during the Amanda Overmyer era I never blocked my ears. Tonight, for the first time in Idol history, I did. Well, he had one in a row.

Burke: Since when does screaming make a song contemporary? Take a 1970s song and scream it and it's suddenly a 2009 hit? I don't think so.

Kris Allen

“Ain't No Sunshine” by Bill Withers
Bunny: Ah, he's multi-talented—plays the piano too. Keyboard, actually, for this song. I can't believe the way this guy has grown on me. He seemed so boring at first. He's playing this whole Idol thing really smart. Matt, Anoop—take a lesson.

Burke: Matt and Scott, take notice from Kris, how to play and sing (Bunny and I are thinking alike). I thought he did a good job. The only negative for me was that weird last note.

PREDICTIONS
Bunny: Bunny's Bomb is—no contest—Adam. But since he's not going anywhere anytime soon, I'll say that Anoop Desai's order placement and mediocre performance will be his ticket home. I think if Megan's fan base was strong enough to get her this far, they won't fail her quite yet. As for Scott, playing a classic song with a simple arrangement will keep the votes coming for another week, although I'm pretty sure he'll be in the bottom 3. Lil may be in danger, but since she's probably not splitting votes with anyone, she'll stick around. Best, in my opinion, for the third week in a row is Kris Allen.
Burke: I have to ask, These are top downloads? What in the hey-hey is the criteria? This week was a lot better than last week, I thought. Burke's Turkey is a close call between Adam and Megan, but Megan it is. Megan (Sybil) Joy is going home. I know I said that last week; one of these weeks I'm bound to be right, right? The B3 will be Megan and Scott, with the wild card being Matt or Anoop. My favorite? I liked both Kris and Danny, but here's the tiebreak: If Danny can make me like a song I don't like by a band I don't like, then I'm awarding him first place.
Prognosticats: *Cough*Hairball performance*cough* was by Megan Joy. Danny Gokey will get voted off. Now where's that tuna?
Bunny: Don't forget to bookmark us or subscribe to keep track of whether the cats can outprognosticate the humans! See you tomorrow night for the results!

I’m going to go out on a limb and say “Megan Joy is going home this week.”
Anoop is safe: he has the college students, the asians, and the tweentards voting for him!
Sad to say, VFTW doesn’t have enough pull to save Megan from her awful performance….Bob Marley is rolling in his grave!
Scott had his best week so far, and we actually LIKED the Flame-bert’s version of “Gay That Funky Music”.
Well, that was a strong limb you chose!
Good call. I was sure that was too obvious a result to happen – thought it would be Anoop. But I’ll admit, the right person went home.
