Aired 3/5/09
Woo-hoo, wildcard night! This oughtta be good. Good meaning only if the judges judge on SINGING TALENT and not who makes good TV or whose clothing they like best. Tonight's best 3 advance to the top 12. (EDIT: Okay, as it turns out, that's not true—keep reading.)
Jesse Langseth

“Tell Me Something Good” by Chaka Khan
Bunny: I don't know the song and am not sure it's the type that's going to get her through, but she is rocking it. She is confident and polished. She learns that she was the last one to squeak into the wildcard round.

Burke: I don't like the song. It doesn't seem like she's with the music. But I thought she did a pretty fair job.

Matt Giraud

“Who's Loving You" by Jackson Five
Bunny: The scarf is just plain silly. It's another song I don't know. I have to say I think if anyone's being self-indulgent (Simon's comment to Jesse), it's Matt. He sings well, but I didn't love that performance.

Burke: I think he did a good job. Once again, I don't like his song choice, but I'll give him a decent score.

Megan Corkrey

“Black Horse and a Cherry Tree” by KT Tunstall
Bunny: Let's do the twist again, like we did last summer...oh, that's not what we're doing? Oh. I was really hoping she'd show why she's here. This isn't great. Yes, she's unique, and that's rare, but I am disappointed.

Burke: I think it was very karaoke, despite what Simon says. I don't like the little swingy moves. I don't think it was the right song choice. In other words, I disagree with the judges completely.

Von Smith

“Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word” by Elton John
Bunny: He's definitely not in his comfort zone when he's restraining himself from belting it out. That last note was near perfect, though, and I appreciate his efforts to improve.

Burke: It was very sad and dramatic, more of a stage-show performance than a singing contest performance. But he hit the big notes and I gotta give him credit for that.

Jasmine Murray

“Reflection” by Christina Aguilera
Bunny: She is making this song more interesting than it generally has been in the past on Idol. She is doing her best to stay in this thing—that's obvious. She is proving why she's here.

Burke: I can't believe she picked a Disney song, but she did a great job singing it. She's the Lil Rounds of tonight.

Ricky Braddy

“Superstition” by Stevie Wonder
Bunny: Hate the skinny pants. I can't understand half the words, and he has too many runs, but still, he does have talent. I'm just not personally a fan.

Burke: Not a big fan. I can't understand the words either.

Tatiana Del Toro

“Saving All My Love For You” by Whitney Houston
Bunny: Doesn't she have other songs in her vast repertoire? The last note never ends, just like her thank youthankyouthankyous and her IloveyouIloveyouIloveyous and her incessant chattering—shut the pie hole already! She just doesn't belong here. It's like she wandered into the wrong reality show. Good for Simon calling her out on song choice with his “rubbish” remark.

Burke: She's a crazy chick who reminds me of Miss Piggy for some reason—I don't know why—but she can sing. However, doing the same song back to back to back will do her in.

Anoop Desai

“My Prerogative” by Bobby Brown
Bunny: Again, the song choice is hard to fathom. It doesn't allow him to show the vocal ability that got him here. A big note here and there doesn't make up for a whole song of nothing much. That said, I still like Anoop and hope he makes it through. Simon all but assures he will.

Burke: Not crazy about his song, but it's a crowd pleaser, and he sings it well. He's going through, I'm sure.

Bunny: Okay, now it's results time. But we are watching this on tape, so we're stopping the tape in order to make our predictions.
PREDICTIONS
Bunny: Bunny's Bomb tonight is Von Smith. I think Megan Corkrey, Anoop Desai, and Ricky Braddy will advance. My personal favorite was Jasmine Murray.
Burke: Burke's Turkey is Ricky Braddy. I predict that Jasmine Murray, Anoop Desai, and Matt Giraud will round out the top 12.
Prognosticats: Coughing up hairballs tonight was Anoop Desai. Going through to the top 12 are Tatiana Del Toro, Jasmine Murray, and Jesse Langseth.
RESULTS
Bunny: All right, let's get back to the show. We'll make this short and sweet.
Jasmine: I thought for sure she, being up first, would be gone. However, she is the first wildcard into the top 12.
Ricky: Kara makes it quick; he's out.
Megan and Tatiana: Paula breaks the news to the histrionic one that they're going with Megan. Fake tears and manufactured drama ensue. She doesn't have the class to congratulate Megan or be happy for her. Poor Megan has to spend her moment of glory consoling TDT. Paula tells TDT she's going places. Yeah, get thee to a shrink.
Jesse: There's no suspense here since she isn't last. It's a no.
At this point, our tape ends! The show must have gone overtime. Drat. So I had to get the rest of the story from other sites.
Von: Paula gives him the bad news; he's going home.
Matt and Anoop: Matt is told he is #12. Then Simon announces that they're breaking from tradition and making it a top 13! So Noop Dawg is in as well, once again staving off an American civil war.

SCORES
They're throwing off our numbers here but that's okay. Our scores have taken a hit, but except for Burke, they aren't that good anyway so it doesn't matter! And with the Prognosticats', shall we say, interesting choices, they're going to have some ground to make up over the next few weeks. Now for this week's scores.

Right about Megan Corkrey and Anoop Desai
Wrong about Ricky Braddy and Matt Giraud
