Well, the dramatic text on the screen at the beginning of tonight's episode clued us in that tonight's elimination would be a shocker, but I didn't believe it because the melodrama flows like water on this show. And it wasn't a Daughtry-level shocker, to be sure, but there were certainly others who should have left sooner than our rainbow-colored-hair friend.

The only good news here is that Elise and Hollie survive another week; both of them deserve it.

There was a rip in the time-space continuum tonight (well, at least the American Idol universe) when Jessica Sanchez found herself not only in the bottom 3, but singing approximately one-tenth of a song for her life. Of course, there was no question that she would get the benefit of the judges' save, but we didn't expect J.Lo to rip the microphone out of her hand shortly after she began her song and shrilly order her back to the couches. In any case, Jessica will sing again next week with the rest of the top 7.
